It would be years after leaving the organization that I processed my own toxic role in everything that went down but coaching was that catalyst for me. I feel very honored and know I owe it to myself and to them to sharpen my skills and become a better coach. Justice must include honoring the truth of Black movements, communities, and lives by uplifting the joy, resilience, genius, and care that comes with their experiences dismantling oppressive systems. Anti-Blackness and oppression is not an inevitable state of affairs, and no human being would agree to oppress another person or agree to be oppressed if they werent already hurt in some other way.
